Day 1 of our 2014 adventure

From check-in back in Seattle to landing at 6am in San Jose we had amazing luck with both airline connections, on time arrivals, children sleeping on the flight and  ZERO line at Immigration.  We dropped our luggage at the hotel (they let us check in at 7am!) and after breakfast we immediately headed to explore downtown via the city bus.

In two hours we visited the different government buildings, national theatre, post office (all marble) and the public market.  Students quickly got a sense of the World Cup fever that is sweeping the country.  All but 2 purchased soccer jerseys and we walked until we wore them out.  Back at the hotel now some are napping while others are sleeping.

So far they are all upbeat, observant, fun and in a minor state of culture shock in all that we experienced in downtown.  Tomorrow brings a 6:30 breakfast and departure for the Caribbean.  Stay tuned for more adventures!
