Soccer madness

The day starts with the Mexico v. Netherlands match.  This of course required pulling out our green and red attire.  So maybe we were the only ones that were cheering for Mexico.  It too was a nail biter with a less satisfying result.  After a quick wardrobe change we secured our seats for the main event.  The restaurant quickly filled with revelers all dressed in jerseys, down to the infant that had a flag clutched in her fist.  We stepped it up and acquired our own noise makers in the shop next door so we could fit in.  The next 120 excruciating minutes were unlike anything we had experienced before.  Following the game winning PK the party moved to the streets where an impromptu parade was quickly assembled. The banging of pots and pans, car horns, revving motorcycles and fan frenzy left us in awe.  The pictures tell their own story.

Tomorrow morning we rejoin the students and they are sure to have their own stories to tell about their World Cup experience.
